About the Play

Bold Girls is a stirring play about the lives of three women, Marie, Nora and Cassie, living in war-torn Belfast. Although their men have been killed or imprisoned for their political activities, everyday life must go on. But the appearance of a disturbing young girl, and Cassie’s revelations suddenly threaten Marie’s carefully structured widowhood.

About the Group

Holycross-Ballycahill Drama Group are together for over fifty years and are based in Holycross, County Tipperary, beside the historic Holycross Abbey on the banks of the River Suir.

“Sive” by J.B. Keane, “Run For Your Wife” by Ray Cooney, “Woman and Scarecrow” by Marina Carr, “Love in the Title” by Hugh Leonard, T.S. Elliot’s “Murder in the Cathedral” and “The Diary of Anne Frank” are among the critically acclaimed productions that the group have performed around the country.

Along our journey it has been our pleasure to bring “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” by Martin Mc Donagh to Germany to perform at the American Force base in Heidelberg, Germany.

We are delighted to reach the All Ireland Confined Finals again this year, having performed most recently in 2017, in Tubbercurry with “Little Gem” by Elaine Murphy, in Castleblayney in 2016 with “The Thrill of Love” by Amanda Whittington and in 2013 in Rossmore Co. Cork with “The God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza. We have won numerous acting, directing, lighting, sound and set awards, on the country’s festival circuit, and also in All Ireland competitions. We look forward to performing in Carnew and making new friends in drama.
