About the Play

Set in Dublin, The Night Alive tells the story of Tommy, a middle aged separated family man, just about getting by, renting a rundown room in his Uncle Maurice’s house, keeping his ex-wife and kids at arm’s length. He’s rolling from one get rich quick scheme to another with his pal, Doc, who also stays in the bedsit from time to time. One night he comes to the aid of Aimee, who hasn’t had it easy herself, struggling through life the only way she knows how. Their past won’t let go easily, but together maybe they could make something more of their lives. With warmth, style and craft, this play mines the humanity to be found in the most unlikely situations.

Setting – The present with seven scenes taking place over a few months.
